Permeable Pavers
Permeable pavers let stormwater infiltrate through wide, aggregate-filled joints into an open-graded stone reservoir instead of running off. They help projects meet post-construction stormwater requirements, reduce or replace detention structures, and can count toward LEED and local low-impact-development credit.

What to specify for permeable pavers
Permeable systems are a full assembly, not just a surface: open-graded bedding (No. 8), a No. 57 base and a No. 2 subbase sized for the design storm, with clean angular joint stone. Never use standard bedding sand or polymeric sand in the joints — it seals the system. Plan for periodic vacuum maintenance to restore surface infiltration.
Design direction
Permeable units read like standard pavers from a distance, so you keep the design language while solving drainage. Joint stone color can match or contrast with the paver blend, and permeable fields can be zoned — permeable parking bays with standard drive aisles, for example.
