Application guide
Patio Pavers
Patio pavers are pedestrian-rated concrete units — usually 60mm — set on compacted base and bedding sand. Because a patio carries no vehicle load, you can choose freely by color, texture and size: large-format squares for a modern terrace, tumbled cobbles for an old-world courtyard, or mixed-size modular kits for a random ashlar layout.

What to specify for patio pavers
60mm units are standard for patios and terraces. Slope the finished surface 1–2% away from the structure, keep the bedding course a consistent 1", and finish with an edge restraint at planters and lawn transitions. Where the patio abuts a pool or spa, choose a textured or tumbled finish for slip resistance.
Design direction
Patios are where color drives the decision. Warm tan and cream blends feel Mediterranean; grays and charcoals read contemporary. Mixing two sizes in a modular pattern breaks up large areas, and a border in a contrasting color visually frames the seating zone.

Frequently asked
- What size pavers are best for a patio?
- Larger units — 12x12, 12x24 and up — make small patios feel bigger and go down faster. Smaller cobbles and modular kits suit curved or traditional layouts.
- How thick do patio pavers need to be?
- 60mm is standard for pedestrian patios. Step up to 80mm only if vehicles, heavy equipment or a shared driveway apron will cross the surface.
- Do patio pavers need to be sealed?
- Sealing is optional. It deepens color and makes spills easier to clean, but it must be reapplied every few years and changes the surface sheen.
